This is what respect looks like in kindergarten:

  • Using appreciations for each other, not put downs.
  • Saying "please", "thank you", "excuse me" and "I'm sorry".
  • Listening attentively to what other say.
  • Looking the speaker in the eye.  (We listen with our ears and our eyes.)
  • Taking care of our classroom materials.
  • Using our hands for helping not hurting.
  •

This is what responsibility looks like in kindergarten:

  • Remembering to bring his/her take home folder and library/snuggle book to school.
  • Listening to the lessons and instructions from the teacher.
  • Taking responsibility for his/her actions/behaviour.
  • Following rules without being told.
  • Asking for help when needed.
  • Finishing his/her work to the best of his/her ability.
  • Keeping our classroom tidy and clean.  (E.g., Cleaning up a spill at snack time., Throwing garbage in the garbage can instead of leaving it on the table/floor.)

This is what honesty looks like in kindergarten:     

  • Telling the truth, regardless of the consequence.
  • Admitting when he/she is wrong.
  • We follow the rules and don't take things that don't belong to us.       
  • We keep promises and encourage others to be truthful.   
  • We care about what we say and do so others will trust us.
